Superhero 4th birthday - 11 August 07
After 4 months of countdown, anticipation and general pre-occupation with his birthday, birthday party and all things associated, the big day FINALLY (for all of us) arrived! Alexander had a superhero party in the morning with his friends Oscar, Leo, Noah, Matthew Steele, Matthew Bizett, Jack, Joey and (James, Anthony & Kane were all sick and couldn't make it). Geema & Grampie and Nana & Pa also came. Was lots of fun with Leigh dressing up as a Pirate to run all the games.
Alexander and Grampie went to the Ekka the day before where he bought the Batman show bag with the entire Batman costume!
We had fun in the week before making a paper mache pinata - a red back spider!

Easter Hat Parade
Today was Alexander's Easter Hat Parade. Just like last year, Daddy had the job of creating the hat... He convinced Alexander that with a few minor alterations, last years hat was perfectly recyclable. Why is it he is so easily satisfied with Leigh's suggestions?? Anyway, he looked very cute in his parade and has mastered jumping like a bunny...

The Boxing Trade
Alexander has been working on a star chart for a 'Laser Gun' for about 6 months now. You, see the problem is, stars are only earned with the consumption of vegetable matter. We set the bar low. 2.5 more bites of veges, would have done the trick, and earned him the pew pew, laser gun.
So today, I(dad) offered to trade his partial stars for boxing gloves, to which there was an enthusiastic 'great idea dad'. He assures us he may try veges again when he is six!

Friday Pasta Night with the Vella's
kerfuffle
The other day Alexander's box of craft supplies tipped over and it all spilt out everywhere. I said 'what a shemozzle!' and he said 'what a kerfuffle'! Not exactly the right word but I was amazed he knew the word and was able to use it in almost the right context :-)
Held back after class
Alexander is in week 3 of a new round of swimming lessons. He is 3 1/2 and is a good swimmer so is in a group with kids probably 4-5yrs. Whilst his swimming is almost as good as the other's his attention span is not! so while all the other kids are having their turns instead of sitting on the mat and watching the other kids (as is the 'rule') he does somersaults and generally plays under the water. At the end of yesterday's lesson the teacher told the other kids to go and 'Alexander would you just stay for a bit'! No! I thought, he is already being held back after class for not concentrating! Is this the beginning....
